URL10: MEASLES AMONG THE TROOPS. Eight of the returned soldiers were taken to the Melbourne Hospital suffering from measles. Their names are Alexander CLARK, Norman NICHOLSON, William JENNER, Frederick BOWMAN, Edward BAWDEN, James LINDEN, Michael HARTIGAN and -- NEMPHEY. Of these NEMPHEY and CLARK are the only serious cases.
O&MAdv.: At the unveiling of the 'Mackenzie Memorial', Wangaratta 9.4.1902, ... Mr, J BOWSER MLA said ... Farrier-Sergeant BAWDEN's case was one of peculiar front. He came back, only to expire after his arrival in Melbourne - within sight of home - from measels contracted on the voyage from South Africa.
