Genealogy > The origin of Charles Normand

Charles Normand got married at St Mary's Anglican church, Balmain, New South Wales, on 29 November 1854 and he died near Bendigo, Victoria, on 13 January 1901. There are few clues to his origin.

At one time I thought that the evidence pointed to his being French, or at least a French speaker. I had discounted a family tradition that says he was a Norwegian - that was before I saw his earliest known signature.
