Murray: QM Lieutenant 18.6.1900, Queen's South Africa medal and 2 clasps (Rhod.).
B5165: late Lt. Perth Mtd. Rifles.
URL1: starter WATC aged 36 from WA, 12 years Metropolitan Rifle Vols., 5 years commissioned Perth Mounted Rifles.
URL3: Lieut. WA Bushmen invalided with disease per 'Australasian' arriving in Albany WA 12.11.1900 and proceeding to Perth, interview.
URL4: letter dated 19.9.1900 from Imp. Yeo. Bde. Hospital Pretoria, suffered severe sciatica and neuralgia for some weeks but not seen any real fighting as QM seeing to mens' rations and food for horses.
URL5: West Australian Starter. One of the best known racing characters in West Australia, writes our Perth correspondent, is Steve CHIPPER, who for many years has been starter at the metropolitan meetings, besides officiating at the Northam, York and Pinjarra fixtures. Steve served in the South African war, and still wears his military hat while engaged in the execution of his duties.
