Canberra Dance News (CDN) is a free, no obligation, e-mail news service. The aim of Canberra Dance News is to encourage participation in bush dancing and other related dance styles. Canberra Dance News is entirely non-commercial, produced at the editors' own cost to promote non-profit events and to inform those interested in dancing. The deadline for contributions is the second-last Saturday of the month, and CDN will go out around Wednesday of the following week. Please notify the list of any changes or corrections to items. We will forward cancellations and changes to venue or time etc as they are received, for events that are before the next issue. We don't keep anything apart from 'Regular Event'
listings; we forward items as we receive them, and if we get enquiries
back we forward them to the source of the item. SubscribingCanberra Dance News is sent to the following three lists. You can choose whichever list best meets your needs.
1) "Canberra Dance News" Google Group.
2) "CDN No MFS Announce Duplicates" Google Group.
3) A manually maintained list, for folk who cannot (or prefer not to) join a Google group. If you join one of the Google groups and receive duplicates from the manual list, please let us know and we will remove you from the manual list. If we don't announce otherwise, you should hear from us every month. If not, maybe: 1) The email went to your "spam" folder. It's not spam of course, so you should be able to mark it as "not spam" or add the sending address to an "ok sender" list in your email client. 2) Your email address failed - we apologise for the inconvenience and ask that you rejoin one of the lists so we can welcome you back to the news. Reciprocal ArrangementsWe are interested in promoting bush dancing and Canberra Dance News (CDN). If you are interested in promoting a related dance style and wish we could help each other, then this message is for you. We can place short items in CDN, but it all takes time and makes a longer email, so we request some modest help in return. We have had event organisers who sincerely thought that we should place their items in CDN but they should not even place a one-sentence acknowledgement and link to CDN in their newsletter, because "their audience only want to read about their dance style". Needless to say we see this as trying to prevent their audience seeing our message at worst, and free-loading at best. However we are sure this does not apply here, so if you are interested in reciprocal publicity, please let us know. If you have a regular email newsletter then if you place something like the following ad in your emails either as it is or marked "Links" or whatever, then we will publish your brief items in CDN. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We appreciate the support of Canberra Dance News: For free email
news about bush dancing and related dance activities please see ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you do not have an email list then maybe you could put out small CDN dodgers instead? The Canberra Dance News dodger is in our Posters Gallery at http://dance.pcug.org.au/. It is 6-up on A4 so a couple of printed copies will make a dozen dodgers to put out. If you have a web page we can place reciprocal links to each other's web pages if you wish. Our page is http://dance.pcug.org.au/ We want to enter into reciprocal publicity arrangements, so if you feel well-disposed towards us and our cause, please let us know what you are doing, or can offer to do, and chances are we will agree to place your brief items in Canberra Dance News. Regards Barbara & Lance
News Items
Dates will be included under "Upcoming Events" or "Dates for your Diary" each week until the event date. Regular events will be included under that heading until you advise otherwise. Publication will generally be in the issue following receipt but is
not guaranteed. We will tell you if we decline to forward your item
perhaps because it is too long or not relevant to the list. If you
don't receive an acknowledgement please remind us - we may have missed
it in the flood of emails that we receive each day. The editors reserve
the right to edit for the sake of brevity, bearing in mind that if we
send out too much then our readers unsubscribe in droves, but it is
better all round if you do the editing before sending the item for
publication. Your Privacy
