Aide de Camp2, software that allows you to convert board games to computerised versions, from HPS Simulations
Bridge Crew, starship bridge simulator with a distinctly "Trek" feel, from Mithril Software (shareware)
Hyphen: "I played Bridge Crew twice at the Cancon convention. Created by a group of local programmers, this software runs on a PC and controls a suite of dumb terminals, plus a screen that is usually placed out in front. You can set up players at each terminal ("Helm", "Screens", "Weapons", "Engineering", etc), plus have one as the Captain who just wanders about and gives orders. On-screen graphics show the position of your ship, the position of enemy vesels, etc etc.
Best games occur when a scenario is moderated by someone sitting at the host PC, and the game becomes a sort of mix between computer- and live-action- roleplaying.
Cool game to play! ...now all you need is to find some old 3270 terminals in a dumpster somewhere..."
Leonard: "3270 emulators boards for PCs are easier to find, I bet."
Mark Urbin: "You don't need a board. I worked for a company that made software 3270 emulators for PCs (running 8088s at 4.77Mhz). Supported 3 LUs and 2 PUs, plus a DOS screen. The company is long dead, but that sort of software should be out there somewhere."
