OK, we know Yaskodray has his little pocket universe in Regina.. who says he didn't make others?

Say he needed one to store some of the weapons he needed in the last war. He finds a deep-space rogue planet, and builds a complex to handle passage of the things he's built. He likes advanced pseudo biological robots, remember? So he built missions, from demonic infantry types to powerful psionic assault models, to monstrosities the size of tanks. They travelled in bioships. Collecting them and sealing them in took some time.

Fast forward a few hundred thousand years.

The Zhodani, needing a secret base (they love secret bases, it's a cultural thing) locate this planet, and begin setting up.. then they find the Ancient base.

And enter.

And somebody opens the gateway...

Live-action DOOM anyone?

The survivors flee back to fleet command. Psionic interrogation reveals that this is a Code Red, Really Big, Bad ThingTM. Not able to bring forward reinforcements, the Zhos contact the Imperium, quickly agree to a truce, and set sail for the base. Where the first demon-ships are emerging. One massive battle later, the base is sealed. And the Kinunir-class AI computers are a little nutso.

Nobody says anything, until the PC's learn the truth (missing a few important details, of course) and go loot the place. The critters are still there, along with Zhodani zombies (Zhombies?).

This would be great for the characters who are always over armed. And after the battles, there's nothing to loot! Everything is biological. Except maybe a clue to the Secret of the Ancients.

(The haze clears, Doug blinks, and asks "what did I just say?")
