a. Aslan Weapons

Aslan weapons are well constructed, solid, and dependable. Of all Aslan equipment, weapons in particular have the handcrafted look so treasured by members of that race. Most Aslan crafters are female although a few are lower-class males. Thus the level of attention they lavish on tools of war (war being strictly the province of males) is surprising. Still, the quality of Aslan weapons is astonishing. All are cunningly made, blending artistic form and functional efficiency into a thing of deadly beauty.

The Aslan place great value on weapons made by famous crafters. The eakhyasear (hunter's rifle) is an excellent example of this type of weapon. They are of no better quality than a similar human-made rifle. It is the special embellishments applied by the Aslan crafters which give it its value (often as much as 1000% of the basic price). Noble males believe that it is beneath their dignity to carry a plain-looking rifle, and will always select a more ornate eakhyasear. Such rifles are passed from father to son for generations. If one is lost or stolen, the owner will go to almost any lengths to get it back.

Aslan hands are shaped differently from human hands, as well as being generally larger. When Aslan are forced to use human weaponry, reduce their skill level on the task by one. Other than that, Aslan weapons are equivalent in performance to human weapons.

CELELLA, Peter G. and HOLDEN, James, Solomani & Aslan: The Rimward Races (MegaTraveller Aliens Vol 2), DGP, Woodburn, OR, USA, 1991, pp 83, 86.)

Note that Aslan in Imperial service use Aslan versions of Imperial weapons; that is, built to use identical ammunition, power sockets, and so on, but adapted to the Aslan physique. This is one more reason why Imperial Aslan are normally deployed as a unit. The other difference is that Brawling and Blade Combat are replaced by Dewclaw in most services. Aslan Marines will accept training in the cutlass, but will only carry it when in parade uniform.

b. Droyne Weapons

The majority of Droyne weapons have the same characteristics as Imperial weapons, albiet with different calibres, voltages, power sockets, and so on. This makes them incompatable with the equivalent Imperial technology, even if two weapons have the same statistics. In most cases this applies even within the Imperium, since interaction between the two races is low (there are simply not that many Droyne!).

Droyne hands are very dexterous and more capable of fine manipulation than those of most other races. When handling non-Droyne weapons, they have no penalty to dexterity. In any case, average Droyne DEX scores are lower than those of other races. The low score represents the influence of other factors on Droyne dexterity - the size, weight, and awkwardness of the weapon, for instance. Droyne also have more difficulty in using high-recoil weapons, and in some cases have created weapons that have a lower performance than equivalent human weapons, scaled to the smaller stature and lower strength of the average Droyne.

(Exerpts taken and adapted from:
MILLER, Marc W., CHADWICK, Frank, HARSHMAN, John, WISEMAN, Loren, and KEITH, J. Andrew, Traveller Alien Module 5: Droyne, GDW, Bloomington, IL, USA, 1985, p 25; and
CHADWICK, Frank, and NILSEN, David (developers), and GELINAS, Mark "Geo" (scenario author and equipment designer), "Hit The Silk", Smash & Grab, GDW, Bloomington, IL, USA, 1994, p 111.)

d. K'Kree Weapons

e. Vargr Weapons

The wide variety of cultures and technologies found within Vargr space makes it impossible to list any particular set of weapons as being "favoured" by the Vargr. Vargr being Vargr, any and every weapon in known space has its equivalent in Vargr space as well. Shown here, therefore, are those weapons that are peculiar to the Vargr alone.

Due to the variety of weaponry available and the similarities between Vargr and human hands, weapons usage is not restricted along racial lines. Humans may use Vargr-made weapons with no penalty, and Vargr may similarly use human weapons.

f. Zhodani Weapons

Zhodani weapons have essentially the same characteristics as Imperial weapons, albiet with different calibres, voltages, power sockets, and so on (making them incompatable with the equivalent Imperial technology). The most important difference is their technology cap of TL 14.

The only other difference is that the safety and selector switches on Zhodani weaponry can be operated by psionic "flicking" as well as manually, although only Zhodani officers can use this feature.

No exclusively Zhodani weapon stats are available at present.

g. Other Alien Weapons

No stats available at present.
