Personal Interests

Orienteering is one of my chief hobbies after fishing. Below is a picture of two of my daughters in our boat 4Bux. I go fishing in Lake Eucembene in the snowy mountains for trout (well when we actually do catch some I worked out that it costs about $427 a kilo for trout once you consider the costs of petrol/lures /drinks/food etc etc), and also fish mainly down the east coast of Australia at Batemans Bay doing estuary and reef fishing. What is orienteering? Check out the links below if you are not sure. I am also keen on 4WD driving, and am a member of the Southern Tablelands 4WD Club. I own a Nissan Patrol GU TI 4WD and love driving off road and seeing the views from the top of hills that I can drive up rather than run up! Orienteering is fun, but driving through the bush is far easier! Some photos I took last year in the Flinders ranges are available on a separate link.

Scuba Diving

Daves Diving Page

I love scuba diving and each year go to Cairns in far North Queensland. In 1999, 2000 and 2003 I went with Down Under Divers on the sailing Brigantine Atlantic Clipper. You want some of the best diving in Australia? then go to their web page and book in a trip. Here's a  picture montage of me at the Norman's Reef on the Great Barrier Reef. The Atlantic Clipper is pictured as well. If you have never dived before, they run courses to get your open water certificate, and advanced courses as well, or if you already are certified like me, book in and go diving!

See my separate page on subsequent diving trips with Cairns Dive Centre in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005,2006 and 2007 . I have been with CDC for seven years and had a great time with them. The Atlantic Clipper has the atmosphere, but CDC have the modern facilities such as ensuites. Which company is better? Both of them! I have been on both as an unaccompanied diver and found it easy to find dive buddies. In 2008 and 2009 I went with Taka Dive which was pure luxury, and in October 2010 back with CDC with my mates Trev and Matt. The Taka Dive shark feeding frenzy is a dive trip not to be missed.
