Hi, I am Gary John McManus, a 36 year old MVS and NT system programmer working for the Australian Government's department of Health and Family Services.

My Background
I was born and raised in a small country city of Port Pirie in South Australia. I went to school at the local Catholic school although I am now a practising atheist. My first job was on a production line at the town soft drink plant (now closed). I then got a job working for the Social Security regional office (now closed) before going to Adelaide to study computing.
I studied at the South Australian Institute of Technology (now had a name change) and working part time.
After two years of study I moved to Canberra to get into computing. I have worked in most areas of computing in three departments, all have been cut by the latest government. Maybe I should get a job working for the government directly, after all what the country most needs is less politics and much better managers.
And, before we go any further, just in case (not that I'm looking to
get hired, the government hasn't destroyed all of Australia's major computing
sites yet) here will be my resume.
My Interests
I don't have any earth shattering interests. I am into computers especially computer games, and system programming. I play a fair game of chess, and I am a B grade standard table tennis player.
