JASON DOWLING

Introduction

I’m currently employed as a post doctoral fellow at the Australian E-Health Research Centre in Brisbane, Australia.

My background is a mix of research and commercial programming.  I did my PhD research at the Queensland University of Technology, Australia focussing on image processing and mobility assessment for visual prosthesis recipients.  My BComp(Hons) thesis was on information retrieval.  I also have a BAppSc (Psych/Comp) from Monash University.  See the research page for more details.

In addition I’ve enjoyed programming since my first Amiga 500 and  Lattice C compiler and have worked in a wide range of programming jobs in Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane.  These have mainly been to develop  database apps (VB 3.0-2005, Oracle 8, Access 1.0-2003, SQL Server 6.5-2000),  data warehousing (Oracle); and statistical reporting and analysis (Excel, SAS, SPSS).  I mainly write C++  for my research work (and in research degrees).   See the IT consulting page for more details.
