Welcome to Canberra!
SITE UNDER CONSTRUCION
BE PATIENT, PLEASE
Canberra is the capital of Australia, situated 160 km inland from
the Pacific Ocean; 290 km south of Sydney (our largest city); 20
or so km to the east of the Brindabella Mountains; and 130 km
to the north of the Snowy Mountains. It is a garden city with an
annual display called Floriade. Four thumbnails of photographs
from Floriade 1995 are below. Click on them to see more detail. I hope that they give you an idea of this lovely town.

Canberra has more than flowers. Here can be found the Australian
National University and the University of Canberra; the Australian
Parliament; the High Court; the National Library; the National
Gallery; the Defence Force Academy; the Australian Institute of
Sport as well as the great departments and other bodies
of State such as the ANAO; foreign embassies; and a lively
cultural life ~ theatres, the products of a vigorous School of Music,
cafe culture.....
Sailing on the two lakes; bicycling, jogging, running or walking
around the many cycle paths; orienteering in the hills; ballooning
and, of course, gardening are among the many activities in which
Canberra people involve themselves. There is also, for some,
Landcare ~ a co-operative effort involving the community & government
in improving degraded land. For us in Canberra this especially means
land & water in the Murray-Murrumbidgee River Basin.
