Attempting to act

chuck in the odd rant on republicanism and
other less serious matters.

Latest:
- An open letter to RSPCA ACT CEO, Michael Linke
RSPCA
is far too inclined to stay in its comfort zone. It’s time you all got
a bit bolder and acknowledged veganism as the most effective way for
individuals to reduce animal suffering. And refusing to serve dead
animals at your functions should be your first step.
A Ban
on Battery Cages in the ACT
A ban on the use of battery
cages for egg production in the ACT
is well overdue and is now very
achievable.
Jack
Waterford - Human Supremacist (and
proud of it)
The Canberra Times Editor-at-Large,
Jack Waterford, is a human
supremacist of the first order.
He’s one of those human
supremacists who will sneer at the
very possibility that the term even
exists.

G’day
It’s nice to see you here (yep
– that’s my beady little eye looking
through your webcam ;-)
I’m a maturing (finally) Aussie
who’s now retired from paid employment
(carefully timed to mesh with the stock market slide
- maybe I’ll be working again soon).
Veganism
My main passion these days is trying to
move the world’s population (or at least most of
them) away from their animal based diet. Global
warming is just the latest in a long list of reasons
why we should all be moving toward a plant-based
diet. See more on my Veganism pages.
Genealogy
I’ve had a web presence for many
years and have ‘met’ many new cousins
simply by having my minimal genealogical info online.
Please have a look – if you’re related send
me an email. I’m more than happy to share what
info I have, add what I can from you and be corrected
where I’m wrong. See my Genealogy pages for
information about my father's family (O'Shaughnessy)
and my mother's (Browne).
Republicanism
I’m also a passionate republican.
The monarchy is an anachronism even in its home (the
UK) but is even more so here. The issue will come to
the fore again very soon - in the meantime my old ‘Republic Oz’ pages are
here.
The Saints
Each Autumn I get filled with optimism
regarding the fortunes of the St Kilda AFL club
during the upcoming football season. Nearly every
August (or even earlier) I’m back to Earth
– that’s the nature of the Saints.
Birds
Something I get great pleasure from is
observing the local birds. Some of my pics and
stories are on my Bird Watching page.
About Me
Also – a little about me in case you think you may have
had the dubious pleasure of going to school with me
or working with me in various offices around the
country.
