The Canberra St Kilda Supporters' Club provides a means for Saints supporters from Canberra and the surrounding region to more actively support their favourite AFL club, THE MIGHTY SAINTS.
Various social activities are organised each season and the club has hired a bus to the last few Sydney v Saints games at the SCG.
A Potted Recent History
The Saints had a great year in 1997, finishing the home and away series as minor premiers and making it to the Grand Final where they were beaten by the better team on the day (or at least for the second half) the Adelaide Crows.
1998 started slowly.. the Saints winning without playing all that well. Then they hit some form in round 10 belting the Swans in Sydney. From there they forced their way to the top of the ladder and looked set for a top two finish. However, someone spiked their drinks so that they won just one game in the last six in the regular season, scraped into the finals then lost twice to finish the year 6th.
1999 saw them start with new coach Tim Watson having dumped Stan Alves at the end of the 1998 season. They put in an inconsistent year, again fading at the end of the season - winning only 3 of their last 11 games and finishing 10th.
2000 was a horror season. Wooden spooners!! The only way is up.
2001 looks promising - a new coach (Malcolm Blight), great recruiting and new management. But what happens if we start winning and keep winning - will they still be our Saints? We'll handle that problem when it comes up ;-)
That's our Saints. Gotta love 'em.
