St George Consecration, 18th February 1968

Two years after the foundations were blessed by Fr. Slavko Nicetin, the Free Serbian Orthodox Church, in National Circuit, Forrest, was consecrated by the Lord Bishop President of the Free Serbian Orthodox Church in Australia and New Zealand, the Most Reverend Bishop Dimitrije.

About 700 people came from many parts of NSW for the consecration of the church which features murals by the artist Mr K. Matzek. It was the 13th Free Serbian Orthodox Church to be completed in Australia. Costing about $40,000 to build, the church featured a 24 carat gold-leaf dome and accomodates up to 300 people.
