All nations were represented from the Philippines to Tanzania to Europe and Australia to Asia and the Pacific and all were concerned to advance women’s rights.
THE COUNCIL FOR THE STATUS OF WOMEN - There were 10,000 registered for this gathering but only 3,000 turned up. The facilities were in the Salvation Army headquarters, the Turkish centre and the UN buildings. There were 364 women’s organizations represented. There were people from all parts of Australia 40 of whom were Soroptomists. There was a Dutch lawyer who was a member of the Soroptomists as well as IFUW. Some were funded by the Government. Social change was documented in Asia , Indigenous issues were also discussed as well as trafficking violence, and refugees . Catherine found the greatest value was in the net working which took place.
