Exposure Details This is a a SHO or Hubble palette image where Red is assigned to Sulphur II, Green to Hydrogen Alpha and Blue to Oxygen III.  Astrodon filters were used and all colours were binned 2x2. The exposures were Sulphur II = 210 minutes, Hydrogen alpha = 150 minutes and Oxygen III = 180 minutes.
Description The Lagoon nebula is one of the brightest and best known deep sky objects in the sky. It forms an attractive pair with its near neighbor, the Trifid nebula. The apparent visual magnitude is 6 and the distance is about 4,100 light years. The dimensions are 90 x 40 arcmins.
