Description |
NGC1291 is a
bright ring galaxy in Eridanus.
The magnitude is 9.39 and the
dimensions are 9.8' x
8.1'. Dunlop discovered it
in 1826 and it was subsequently
entered in the NGC as NGC1291.
John Herschel observed the same
galaxy in 1836 and it was then
recorded as NGC1269 without
anyone realizing it was a
duplicate.
