Exposure Details This is a LRGB image with Luminance = 110 minutes and Red =  Blue = 60 minutes, Green = 70 minutes.  Luminance unbinned, Colors binned 2x2.  300 minutes of Hydrogen Alpha added to bring out the HII regions.
Description NGC 247 is one of the Sculptor group of galaxies that includes and is of  comparable size to NGC 253 and NGC 55.  The distance is about 11.1 million light years.It has a lower surface brightness than its other large companions with an apparent magnitude of 9.9 and an angular size of 21.4' x 6.9'.  NGC 247 has an unusually large void on one side of it's disk (bottom of the above image).  This void only contains older redder stars.
