Exposure Details This is a LRGB image with Luminance = 120 minutes and Red = Green = Blue =50 minutes.  Luminance binned 1x1 and colours binned 2x2 using Astrodon filters.
Description NGC 5617 is a fairly prominent open cluster  only about 1 degree from Alpha Centauri. It is about 5,770 light years distant, has a visual magnitude of 6.3 and an angular diameter of 10 arcminutes. Also visible in the lower left corner is the more distant cluster Pismis 19.
