| Description |
NGC
6440 is quite near to the sun as
globulars go at only 6000
parsecs but it suffers from 4
magnitudes of interstellar
absorption thus making it less
prominent than might be
expected. NGC 6445 is a
planetary nebula approximately
22' to the north east about
which not much is known.
