More about 2011 [3/3]

Trains

In 2011, there were also exhibitions, more lectures, and trains.

Although I haven't yet found the Tuggeranong Railway Siding (details in blog entry Sunday 6 February 2011 - Old Tuggeranong Road) I still intend to. Meanwhile, I've been on some old trains, and seen even more.

In April we went on the Tin Hare, with Julie & Gez, to Bungendore in the rain

A couple of weeks later, Dac and I visited the Australian Railway Historical Society Easter Steam Spectacular at Canberra Station in Kingston.

In November, we travelled to Katoomba to visit Fiona and family at their holiday house, which had been done up earlier in the year. It was lovely, and we had an enjoyable couple of days avoiding the heat up there. I clamoured for a trip on the Zigzag Railway, which will eventually be written up as a Weekend Walk, but in the meantime:

Other joys

Danish

We only had one term of instruction in 2011: I'm hoping we'll have more in 2012. In the meantime, I exchange Danish text messages with my friend Birthe and the odd email with her sister Lise in Copenhagen, and I watch every bit of Danish television SBS can provide. I even attended a breakfast organised by Gary to mark the ending of the series Forbrydelsen (The Killing).

Brian's kittens

Glamour Puss presented Brian with a little family in November. Here they all are:

Conclusion

That's it for another year.

All the best,

- Val
