Bible Reading

Now when Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off, and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother.

So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house. Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you."

Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" She said to him, "Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world."

- John 11:17-27, English Standard Version Bible

God's Garden

God looked around his garden,
And he found an empty place.
And then he looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you,
And lifted you to rest;
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain;
He knew that you would never get well,
On earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered "Peace be thine".

It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
For a part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
