About the Concert

Appearing in collaboration for the first time in Melbourne, Stuart Long, Hannah Sless and Helen Thomson are proud to present a piano, violin and voice recital. The programme to be presented is highly innovative: apart from two brackets of pieces for voice and piano (one bracket of Fauré chansons, and one of Ravel folksong arrangements) there will also be two brackets of pieces for voice and violin: one by Holst, and one by Vaughan Williams. Additionally, Hannah and Stuart will present a suite of folk songs arranged for violin and piano by De Falla.

Although she is a seasoned Canberra and national performer, this is Helen's first interstate solo recital, not to mention a major change in focus as far as repertoire is concerned (as will be clear from her credits, Helen's field is, typically, early music). She is honoured to be able to work with Hannah and Stuart, and believes that their expertise, combined with a freshness of approach that is a product of her unconventional musical background, makes this recital something truly special.
