I'm indebted to Dr Peter Campbell (author of Laudate: the first 50 years of the Australian Intervarsity Choral Movement, PC Publishing, Canberra, 1999) for much of the information on this page. More details about these festivals may be found in Laudate or on AICSApedia .
1NEUCS = New England University Choral Society
2Soloists: Sue Falk, Judy Clingan, Colin Matheson, Geoff Brennan (all members of SCUNA)
3MONUCS = Monash University Choral Society
4Then Director of the Tasmanian Conservatorium
5Conductor of SCUNA in 1978
6AUCS = Adelaide University Choral Society
7FUCS = Flinders University Choral Society
8I'm relying on my memory here. We might in fact have given the middle one a miss - it was the hardest - but I don't think we did. And I can't remember singing anything else
9My memory again. These were three madrigals we knew from 1968, and we definitely sang two of them, possibly missing out Lasciate mi morire
101969 was Brian's first year in SCUNA. He became conductor at the end of 1971, continuing till the end of 1977, and conducting SCUNA again from 1987 to 1988
11Newcastle University Collegium Musicum aka NUCM
12Ayis was no longer conducting SCUNA in 1972: he was conducting the Canberra Choral Society 1971-76
13Brian Hingerty recalls that Donald Hollier provided piano accompaniment, offering the alternatives Baroque or 19th century style. Brian chose the latter.
14Conductor of SCUNA in 1967 and again in 1983-84
