1980 Jan 22.5 - C/1979l (Bradfield) at magnitude 6 in
Octans. Unguided photo, 50mm lens. A short tail points toward 10
o'clock. This view of the southern circumploar sky was taken from my roof
top in Adelaide in the early evening.
1986 Feb ?? - Comet Halley was in the pre-dawn sky and
had a nice naked eye tail around 3 degrees long. The predicted peak brightness
was not until April, but by then it had faded significantly. This was a
test exposure but with 20/20 hindsight it proved to capture the comet at
its brightest. Tri-X film, 135mm lens.
