The Steering Committee for the Petroleum Related Education, Training and Employment for East Timorese is pleased to announce that its Member Organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop programs designed to enable East Timorese people to compete effectively for employment in the oil and gas industry and related East Timor Government administration.
The term of the Memorandum of Understanding is for twelve months from May 2001 and sets the way forward for the development of an appropriate entity to continue the Steering Committee’s initiatives into the future.
The Steering Committee has also appointed Mr Terry Hudson, of the Australian Oil and Gas Industry Training Consortium (a consortium of Western Australian TAFE colleges), as Program Manager to carry out the development of a training framework and make recommendations to the Steering Committee regarding program implementation. This work will be undertaken during 2001 with a view to formal program implementation during 2002.
