URL6: His Excellency has received a message from South Africa stating that Private AJ BENNIER, of the Sixth Contingent, has died of wounds received in an engagement in the Orange River Colony. The Chief Secretary has forwarded a message of condolence to the deceased soldier's father Mr. August BENNIER, of Mount Gambier. The name was erroneously given as "AJ BENNETT" in "The Advertiser" of Monday. This is the first death which has occurred in the Sixth Contingent.

There was a mammoth gathering to witness the ceremony, at the Memorial Statute in Adelaide on the occasion. The following is the Roll Call of the South Australian heroes who lost their lives. PROSSER, MOORE, NICHOLAS, PAGE, HONNER, PALMER, GOODES, WOODHAM, LANDSELL and TOTHILL. Fifth Contingent. Capt. HIPWELL Reg. Sgt.-Mjr. MCGILLIVRAY, QMS SCHUMANN, Sgts. HAMILTON, RUST, and MERCER. Cpl.
