Source:# 1578 SMITH, George James Bardo. Enlisted for WW1 duties 18.8.1914, 37 years of age, married and a tally clerk from 188 Nott Street, Port Melbourne; served 3/169 Private, 1LH, returned ill November, 1917. Attestation suggests he also served with the Miner's Defence Force in South Africa. Born Sydney, died Heidelberg, Vic., 9 October, 1932, aged 52 years, parents Charles PEARCE and Eliza Ann SMITH.
