URL2: STRATFORD'S SOLDIERS. MEMORIAL BRASS AND HONOR ROLL. UNVEILING CEREMONY. DISPLAY OF ENTHUSIASM. Stratford people have the name of being thorough in any object taken in hand, and the ceremony of unveiling the Memorial Brass and Honor Roll on Friday night [12.9.1902] to the local soldiers who served in the late South African war, was an unqualified success, the large hall being crowded to excess. ... The following names are engraved upon the Honor Roll - Chaplain Smith MACBAIN BA, Lieut. WJ COCHRANE, Staff Sergt. W POOLE, Sergt. Major J JONES, Sergt. DH PRUDEN , killed in action at Koster River, Sergt. Jas. A BEECHER, Sergt. H JONES, Sergt. Jas. TWEEDIE, Sadd. Sergt. E HAZLETT, Corpl. Jno.
