Source:# 1578 WATTS, Bernard Alexander Gordon (DSO). Served in WW1 as Lieutenant Colonel, 4 Field Artillery Brigade, killed in action 10 April 1917, France, commemorated Vauix Hill Cemetery, Picardie, France. NAA WW1 record has him shown as born at Adelaide, his mother in South Melbourne as next of kin. Awards - Distinguished Service Order, gazetted Australia, 21 September 1916; Mentioned in Despatches three times, gazetted Australia 21 September 1916, 29 June 1917, 4 October 1917; also recommended Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George, 8 March 1917.
