URL6: A most interesting military service look place last Sunday afternoon [7.7.1901] at St. Matthew's Church, Cheltenham, when a memorial tablet was unveiled to Pte. CHRISTIE, of the Bushmen's Contingent.
URL7: [Cheltenham Memorial to the Moorabbin volunteers unveiled ?21.5.1904]. On one side are inscribed the words - "Erected by the residents of Moorabbin to perpetuate the noble deeds of our Moorabbin boys whose names are inscribed hereon, who volunteered and fought for the Empire in the South African war, 1899-1902." On another side the record is made - "Unveiled by the Hon. T BENT, Premier, on May 7, 1901." High up on the colmunn are the words: "In Memoriain - Trooper W CHRISTIE, died at Rustenburg, 1900; Trooper F CLAY, killed in action at Elandshoek, 1901"; Trooper J COLLINS, killed in action at Wilmansrust, 1901; Trooper F FISHER, died." Source:# 1578 The windows which have been placed in the chapel of the Melbourne Grammar School in memory of the late Professor EF MORRIS, head master from 1875 to 1882, and of the old Melburnians who fell in the Boer War were dedicated yesterday by Archbishop CLARKE … the following old boys of the Melbourne Grammar School were either killed in action or died in South Africa during the Boer War - Messrs GW GRICE, CW ROGERS, HJ GOODMAN, JW CHRISTIE, CH WALTER, GEW WILMOT, RPN ROBERTSON and BC MERRILEES.
