URL5: Trooper WA MORRIS, who was the only Maryborough representative in the first contingent sent to South Africa, arrived from Brisbane by the mail train to-day [29.8.1900]. He was met by the regimental band and a large crowd of people, and was carried shoulder high to the Custom-house Hotel, where he was formally welcomed back by the Mayor and aldermen, the officers of the 2nd Regiment, and a number of leading citizens. Trooper DODD, who lately returned, was also present. Both men were invalided owing to enteric fever, and they declared that the hospital treatment was excellent.
