Description This is a fairly bright (magnitude 10.2) spiral galaxy that is about 3.5' x 1.5' in size.  It has a similarly sized neighbour, NGC 1808 less than a degree away.  It was discovered by James Dunlop in 1826 and is about 50 million light years distant.
