Here are some of the events which we enjoyed in 2004:

February
“The Theory and Practice of Assigning Attributes to People and Events”

Most of the time, we don’t really need to judge people, but when we feel we must, we assess their attributes.  Conscious management of this assessment helps to balance out a largely unconscious process, then at least we can say why we got it wrong!

March
“How Love Changes Through Our Lifetime”

The Idea of Love, and How it Changes Through One’s Lifetime

April
“We are All Dwelling in the Gutter, But Some of us have our Gaze upon the Stars.”

How to Transit the Levels of Abstraction?

How to keep my eye on the horizon (and beyond),

Without mis-placing my next footstep?

Is the AGS Mission Statement both sufficiently grand and clearly attainable?

May

Language as a Symbol System

To the extent the we strive for correct symbolism to fact, beneficial results can be obtained.

June
Terrorism Management Theory

"Be afraid, be VERY afraid."  Dare you come to this day on terror?
If you are interested in some of the causes of conflict

between different cultural groups (like the 9/11 terrorist event)

then this may be the day for you.

Come learn about a new branch of psychology.

Hopefully presented from a GS viewpoint.  And it might lead up to the next session.
WARNING:  This day may be challenging for some.

And no, I'm not kidding.  You have been warned.

July
Confronting the Challenges of Conflicting World Views

"Not exactly an original topic", you cry!
But let's look beyond the Institute's Conference papers,

and see how we might understand and apply some GS principles

to our global, local and personal conflicts.

September
To Live Extensionally - Venturing Beyond Mere Words

Why are these seminars so comfortable -
Are we ever going to do anything about all this?

Can we free ourselves of the tyranny of mis-representation?
Why speak at all when every word can be mis-construed?

Perhaps we'll remember today's unspeakable awareness!
