Sophont, Sophontology

A sophont is a generalised term for an intelligent life-form.

Sophontology is the study of intelligent life-forms. Subsidiary branches of this science include:

• cultural sophontology, the comparative study of sophont societies;
• physical sophontology, the study of the genetic and physiological makeup of intelligent life; and
• developmental sophontology, the study of the various means by which life-forms evolve intelligence.
