This picture was actually taken on 27 December 2000, when Helen and Dac and I went out to visit Brian and the mother cat and three kittens he'd acquired after Frederick died.
Dac has a practice of holding cats aloft and asking them what they're going to do now. They generally don't answer, but you can tell they're thinking.
