Mixed media is a form of visual art, combining materials and techniques. Examples include assemblages, collages, and sculptures. An assemblage typically composes objects or materials onto a surface or within a space to create a cohesive artwork.
The above photo is of my artist's book. Which was my art class theme. Such artworks are in the form of a book. In this case, I made a sculpture roughly looking like a book.
I based my project on a photograph I had taken on Mount Gingera. That showed a stunted snow gum emerging from a rock outcrop.
I built my piece upon a deep edge canvas. Whose thick bars and deep frame transform the canvas into a sculptural object. I incorporated both flat and solid materials to represent the scene.
