Mixed media artist's book
by Bryan Kilgallin

Mixed media is a type of visual art that merges various materials and techniques. Some examples are collages, sculptures, and assemblages. An assemblage generally consists of placing objects or materials onto a surface or inside a space to form a unified piece of art.

My artist's book

The photo above showcases my artist's book, which reflects the theme of my art class. This type of artwork is presented in the format of a book. In this instance, I created a sculpture roughly resembling one.
This project was inspired by a photograph I had taken on Mount Gingera. It depicted a stunted snow gum sprouting from a rocky outcrop.
I constructed the artwork on a deep edge canvas. Whose thick bars and deep frame transform it into a three-dimensional object. I integrated both flat and solid elements to convey the scene.
