Source:# 734 born 1868 at Port Macquarie NSW, moved to WA prospect there in the 1880s. After the Boer War he married in Aust. but was soon back in S. Africa as staff officer to the chief censor. WW1 AIF on Gallipoli, photo [AWM H16587].

URL8: near Brandfort in early 5.1900 WA's escaped unhurt despite being fired on by individual marksmen at close range, Sergts. DUFFY & BARCLAY, Cpl. CLARKSON & Lieuts. CASTILLA & INGLIS were very warmly received as they advanced into bush spruit in rough ground.
URL9: Capt. DUFFY returned to WA via Melbourne 27.11.1902.
URL10: An Albany telegram states - "By the ss Moravian, which arrived here from Melbourne yesterday [c26.11.1902], Captain and Mrs. DUFFY returned to Western Australia, The former went to South Africa as a private in the Second Contingent, and he earned promotion at the front. Since the close of the war he has been engaged in Government work. He will leave for Perth tomorrow night."
W. Mail: Lieutenant JG DUFFY, who went to the war as a corporal with the Second Contingent, and returned with a commission, was attached to the Fifth Contingent in South Africa for some time, with the rank of lieutenant. He is now [c5.1902] acting as assistant Press censor at Capetown.
