Source:# 765 1939 obituary said mentioned in despatches at the battle of Graspan.
Register: Reitz fight ... No.2 Troop, E half-squadron and a few of the 6th Mounted Infantry were the first to be rushed by 300 mounted Boers...pure carnage...Cpl. A. J KILSBY, E half-Squadron, mentioned for conspicuous bravery.

URL3: Mr. AJ KILSBY, a Boer War veteran and Great War ex-service man, died in the Adelaide Hospital after a long illness. A wreath was forwarded from the Mt. Gambier Sub-Branch, through League Headquarters, and a representative attended the funeral at West Terrace.

URL5: The troopship Manchester Merchant with returning Australian soldiers of the 5th and 6th Contingents from South Africa arrived at Albany yesterday [22.4.1902]. Sergeant-Major R WHITE, of Mil Lei (who left here a corporal), telegraphed yesterday to Sergeant HARRINGTON as follows "All the Mount Gambier men are on board except KILSBY, EWENS and CAVANAGH."
