Murray: 'B'Sqn. OFS 2.1900-4.1900 died at Bloemfontein on 16.4.1900 from enteric, NSW Govt. widow's pension to Mrs. EJ BASCHE to 4.1905.

URL7: Lieut. CO BASCHE died of enteric aged 24, a clerk in the Treasury.
URL9: Lieutenant Carl Oswald BASCHE, who is about 24 years of age, has for some time occupied the position of a clerk in the Treasury Department, but has obtained leave of absence under the circumstances. He joined the Army Service Corps as a private, and rose from the ranks to his present position. He is an excellent rifle shot, and a good rough-rider. More- over, he is very popular with his regimental comrades.
URL10: The [NSW ASC] corps though not directly represented in South Africa during the late Boer war, gave about 25 per cent, of its effective strength as volunteers to other corps, and it is worthy of note that out opf five ASC officers who volunteered for active service, three are lying in South African graves, viz.. Lieutenants BASCHE and HARRIOTT, and Captain MILLER, the latter a son of Lieutenant-Colonel David MILLER, the late commanding officer of the corps.
C&R Examiner: On Sunday week [9.11.1902] festival services were the order of the day at All Saints Church of England at West Kempsey. The sacred edifice was decorated for the occasion and the services were largely attended. In the morning Archdeacon MOXON performed the ceremony of unveiling three stained glass windows, also a marble tablet erected by the public of the Macleay in memory of the late Lieutenant BASHE while on active service in South Africa.
Evg. News: Private Herbert Warren, of the New South Wales Ambulance Corps, writing to Mr. AJ SMITH, of Woollahra, from Bloemfontein on April 19 [1900], says ... There are a number of deaths daily. Lieutenant BASCHE (NSWMI) died here yesterday. There must be fifty deaths per day at Bloemfontein. At this rate there will be no British Army soon.
