URL3: Invalided soldiers on the Wilcannia. Adelaide SA Friday 7.9.1900. The Lund line steamer Wilcannia, which arrived from Capetown this morning 8.9.1900, had on board 30 invalided soldiers from South Africa. Among the number was one South Australian, Private LEANE, of the First Contingent, who was invalided home on account of an attack of rheumatism. The men were under the charge of Lieutenant STEWART, of the First Australian Horse, since transferred to the 4th Dragoons, which regiment he will join in India at the expiration of his present term of leave. Those who arrived by the Wilcannia., in addition to Private LEANE, were - Sergeant-major MCALLISTER, Sergeant MCARTHUR, Sergeant WEARNE, Privates IRELAND, ANGELL, POPE, ROSS, HART, HUGHES, LYNCH, LEGGETT, BURMEISTER, TONKIN, CONSTANTINE of New South Wales Mounted Rifles.
