Barrier Miner: A Georgetown correspondent writes - Much regret was expressed last night (11.6.1901) when it became known that Mr. P MURRIE, senior, hdd received a telegram from the Premier stating that one of his sons, Sergeant MURRIE, who went with the Sixth Contingent, had succumbed to enteric fever at Standerton, in South Africa. Only last week a letter was received from Sergeant MURRIE stating that the contingent had just arrived, and that he was in the best of health and spirits. Nothing was known of his illness until the news of his death reached Georgetown. Great sympathy is felt for his widow, who is a daughter of Mr George INGLIS, of Adelaide, and who lost a brother suddenly a little over a month ago. Four sons are left with Mrs. MURRIE, the oldest being about 16 years of age. PADN&FC: The Departed Brave.
