Source:# 525 mechanic, miner, boundary rider & rabbit trapper, born 1878 at 'Whakarara', Hawkes Bay NZ came to Aust. aged 8 in 1886, lived in Hay, Balranald, Merriwagga, Hillston & Wrightville, died in 1946 at Orange Base Hospital, buried Orange NSW Cemetery, NSW Queen's South Africa Medal and 6 clasps (OFS CC L.Nek Tvl RoL & TH) but NSWIB roll says only 2 (Tvl and SA02).
Roe: if correct, TH RoL & L.Nek clasps imply earlier service.
B5204: station hand aged 22 from 13 Mile Stage Booligal Rd. via Hay NSW (no previous service shown).

URL4: The Riverina Bushmen - The following are the names of the 50 men selected at the Narandera tests after passing all trials for the Carrington Contingent. The names will be generally recognized as well known district residents, and young fellows who can be relied upon to maintain the high reputation which previous Riverina representatives have acquired at the war. The boys hail from Narandera, Hay, Darlington Point, Ganmain, Berrigan, Deniliquin, Jerilderie and Carrathool; and from Momalong, North Yanco, Kararbury, Widgiewa and Goolgumla Stations. Lieutenant Tyrell EVANS, well-known in the Riverina, is acting as adjutant of the detachment. This officer served in South Africa with the Fourth Victorian Contingent under Lieutenant-Colonel KELLY.
