URL6: Mr SALMON MLA, who is a volunteer officer, stood on the bridge [of the 'Monowai'] and emotionally signalled his last message to his brother who was second in command of the Mounted Rifles on board the 'Medic'.

URL9: TALBOT - Colonel LEE, AAG DSO, visited Talbot during the week [c6.1904] in connection with the ALH, and advantage was taken of his presence to have the tablet in St. Michael's Church in memory of the late Captain Robt. W. SALMON who died in South Africa during the war, unveiled. An appropriate discourse was delivered by the vicar, Rev. MC JAMES, and Colonel LEE, in a few words, unveiled the tablet, which was erected by the officers and men of the VMB.
