B5179: Cameron's Scouts, born 1879 a boundary rider from Melbourne next of kin in Kilmore Vic.
URL1: KILMORE - Mr James OA STILL, a member of Cameron's Scouts, was accorded a welcome home on Friday [7.6.1901]. A number of bonfires illumined the hills and a display of fireworks greeted the returned soldier. He speaks in high terms of Captain CAMERON, the leader of the scouts.
URL2: KILMORE - A welcome social was tendered to Trooper James OA STILL, a member of Cameron's Scouts, at the Mechanics' hall on Tuesday evening [25.6.1901] by the members of the Australian Natives Association to which Trooper STILL belongs. The gathering was largely attended and a presentation of a gold medal was made to Trooper STILL. representatives of other friendly societies were also present and joined in welcoming home the returned soldier. Sympathetic reference was made to the death of Private THORNTON, late of Kilmore, who was amongst the Victorians killed in the recent disaster at Wilmansrust.
