URL6: Two more Kilmore Vic. boys off to the war. Messers. GH FISCHER and R THORNTON have been selected to go with the next contingent from Victoria for South Africa. Kilmore will be well represented in this lot, there being four from the town, viz., Messrs. E CRANE, C HODGES, H FISCHER and R THORNTON. They are all strong young fellows and will no doubt give a good account of themselves when the time comes. We wish our soldier lads every success and hope they will come back safe and sound.
URL7: KILMORE - A welcome social was tendered to Trooper James OA STILL, a member of Cameron's Scouts, at the Mechanics' hall on Tuesday evening [25.6.1901] by the members of the Australian Natives Association to which Trooper STILL belongs. The gathering was largely attended and a presentation of a gold medal was made to Trooper STILL. representatives of other friendly societies were also present and joined in welcoming home the returned soldier. Sympathetic reference was made to the death of Private THORNTON, late of Kilmore, who was amongst the Victorians killed in the recent disaster at Wilmansrust.
