Monaro Mercury: Tpr. Theo. WOODS of the Imperial Bushmen’s Contingent, late of Bombala, writing to his brother from Zeerust S. Africa on 2.7.1900 says - A sad event is the death of QM Sergeant WALTON from malarial fever. While sick he received every attention at our hands. He will be well known on the Manaro, where he resided for years.
URL5: Quartermaster-Sergeant JR WALTON was on the staff of the First (or Australian) Bushmen Contingent. He came from Picton, and sailed in the steamer Southern Cross on January 19 last.
