URL2: On Friday evening last [23.8.1901] was held one of the most pleasant and most enjoyable socials that ever took place in the [Balranald] Variety Hall to welcome home our local soldiers from the front in South Africa, viz., Corporal's Ewen CAMERON, JB BURKETT, Jas. JENNINGS and Troopers John KELLY and J BUTLER. Trooper Dan MURPHY, who had already received a public welcome and was lately presented with a gold medal, was also present upon invitation.
