URL8: THE troopship Manchester Merchant with the returning members of the last contingent arrived off the Pile Light at 4.30 on Saturday afternoon [2.8.1902], and the officers, men, and baggage were transhipped to the Lucinda, on board of which were, from headquarters, Major SELLHEIM, Captain WEBB, the PMO, Dr. THOMSON, and staff sergeants. On Sunday the men mustered before 10 am., to await inspection by the commandant, Colonel PRICE CB. The camp state showed 10 officers and 242 of other ranks. The officers were - Colonel CHAUVEL, Major PLOMER, Captains O'BRIEN, MCLEOD, NICHOLSON, BRAND, and Lieutenants MORAN, F WILSON, BRODIE, and DODS. About 150 men remained in South Africa, these having secured work at various crafts.
URL9: The Queensland battalion of the Second Commonwealth Horse, which is commanded by Colonel CHAUVEL, arrived at Capetown on Saturday last [21.6.1902], and have been ordered to Newcastle, in Natal.
