URL2: The transport Norfolk, one of the neatest, cleanest, and best of the boats that have been engaged in conveying troops to and from South Africa, came to anchor off Largs Ray late on Wednesday night [30.7.1902]. URL3: THE CONTINGENT FOR AFRICA. COMPLETION OF STRENGTH. In response to the advertisement for 25 men to complete the South Australian unit of the Commonwealth Contingent for South Africa, about 209 men presented themselves at the implement hall, exhibition grounds, on Tuesday morning [7.1.1902]. These were formed in line, returned soldiers, members of the military forces, and civilians being kept distinct, and mainly from the military sections about 30 men were passed by the military officers - Mjr. NAPIER and Lieut. SHEPHERD - and added to the roll, subject to passing the prescribed tests.
